Got this for such a steal.

Post by MsShimano » Mon May 22, 2017 10:40 pm

Sitting in the backyard today playing with my dog.. I refreshed my Facebook page and saw someone selling a near new Shimano TLD-2 speed 50LRSA on a 24kg Shimano beast master... I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the price. $200. I messaged him instantly and said I'm coming down! 1 hour drive. I picked up this beautiful baby.
Question is.. what the hell do I spool it with?? A 80lb braid, 50lb braid? Mono? Suggestions please. Wanting to chase barrels :)

Great deal there

Ive got the same reel
Tackleworld and bcf both recommended 1000mt of 50lb braid with 100mt on 100lb top shot with 6 mt of 200lb wind on leader

So thats what I wanted anyways.
The max drag it 19kg so setting it up as a 24kg reel will be perfect.
Just make sure braid is put on super tight so it doesn't snap

Thanks for that smiles! I am going to tackleworld super early tomorrow as I have a gift card that I want to use. What did you pay roughly for a set up like that??? Thanks bud.

I got it all threw a insurance pay out so i ended up with a 3000mt spool of braid worth $800 so i have done the 2 tld 50s with it so far.
I got braid from bcf as replacement item so it was free ish.

Tackleworld put the braid on reel added topshot and windon for $50 or$ 60 i think for each reel. They did all the plats and knots too.
Just to spool the reels was $20 each cos of time. Took 1.5 hrs to do.

That's awesome so they will make it ready so I just attach my favourite barrel lure? I just need it set up.
1.5 hours geezzzz need to leave it and get Harley to have a look and do it for me and pick it up later..

You will need to put a bean bead on the end of wind on and crimp on a snap.

Im sure if you flutter your eyes a bit theymite do it for you too lol then you have you have yo adjust your strike drad to 8kg
I think i have same rod also. Is it 5foot 4 and black?

Best with 2 ppl.
1 person holds the rod with the reels on strike and second person pulls out line like a fish does but attached to scales.
If the scales read below or above 8kg.
Wind in line
Back drag off
Adjust knob near leaver drag twisting left or right depend on if drag needs to go higher or lower.
And repeat till 8kg strike drag
