I have a Shimano Maikuro 662, caught countless of squids and trouts on it. Hold up well with salmon and 40cm ish Spanish Mackerel as well. It's a light weight rod that let you cast all day. You can get it for around $90 when BCF does the 20% off sales.
I was using the Shimano Starlo classix 721 before upgrading to the Maikuro, this one held up well with a 53cm salmon so couldn't have asked for more from a 2-4kg rod
Caught heaps of fish with it as well.
