Obviously your on school holidays and want to go for a fish. I'm sure this will probably get scoffed at by some but If you can find a bit more $$ they have the sonic pro & sienna combo for $89. A 6"6-7" rod with a 2500 reel & 6lb line and you will catch just as many fish as with a $500 combo

This. A very decent rod will be available somewhere on there it's just a matter of looking and sensible haggling. While a sonic pro from cbf is ok, you'll be upgrading the second you can so it pays to get the best you can straight up. Otherwise speak with the guys at Aussie, atleast you avoid the lottery that is real knowledge from real fishos in a cbf store

Your right Boonanza, fish don't know how much your gear costs, not everyone can afford expensive gear, BCF has some great combo's at sensible prices, don't get brainwashed with all the hype, yes it's nice to have top of the line gear if you can afford it, but there's some good rods / reels if you look carefully.
