Stick baiting rod for metre plus kings
Hey guys.
I'm in need of a rod that is light enough to be cast all day can belt out a cast and can handle the heavier lures used when stock baiting. 40-100 grams should cover it.
I have a 8-16 lb rod with 4000 Stradic but I believe it will be a touch light on a bigger unit
I don't want to pussy foot around as I will be targeting these fish a bit shortly and don't want to spend the time and money only to be undergunned when the moment comes.

Re: Stick baiting rod for metre plus kings
Cheers gents. Will look into both. What ocea you run nude? And what reel sizes you swap between?
Had a mate suggest the ns amped offshore 702 to me having just bought one for the exact purpose.
Seems like this is gonna be a pain in the arse excercise of needing a reel to suit too. I have 8 or so 2500 daiwa and smaller sized reels. And 7 reels above 8000 Shimano. Only 1 in between being the 4000 Stradic.

Probably the OO802SBSP which is the lighter of the 2 oceas.
Shimano range you have the tzs78hpw terez, tcbwstick tcurve or the graps80m grappler as alternatives to the ocea. All are dedicated stickbait rods so have the extra length over ordinary offshore rods. Matched to a 8-10k Twinpower or Stella, 50lb braid and we're done

Re: Stick baiting rod for metre plus kings
Yeah I've had a look at those cobby. Definitely built for the purpose and probably the go to choice for the task. My first thought was to go down the 8 foot range. But then a mate asked me about rod storage on the boat. I can only fit 1 rod above 7'5 on the boat due to the way my horizontal rod holders are set up with the casting deck acting as a stopper. I'm scoping out rods below this mark for now before I bite the bullet on an 8 footer
I started looking around other manufacturers and came across the giant killing series from majorcraft. Plat has them as being in their catalogue since 2012. The majorcraft site has them as being a new model. You guys have any idea how to find out if they are an old mode that has been updated or if it's the same 2012 rod? I'm not keen on 5 year old tech for the $$ they are asking for the rods if that makes sense.
I am looking at the 7'4 Pe 2-5 teamed up with a BG 4000 for throwing sluggos and stickbaits.

Then there's this to consider if that giant killing rod is a touch older. This one was released in 2015. The Njc-70buri.

Hey ducky
The terez 7'2 30-50 has plenty of grunt down stairs but fast action up top. Reckon it could be a good option

Rod technology is snail pace. For all the marketing crap, aside from k guides and to a lesser extent torzite rings nothing has changed for years.
http://www.mcquarries.com.au get vertical combing racks from here then no issue with long rods. Normally always at the boat show if you can wait that long. I'd honestly say they produce the best quality stainless bling in this state
