one reason i suggested 7 footers is for that reason, storage on the boat and casting capabilities when there more people on board. thats why i went for the 7 footer

I have an older model daiwa monster mesh that I don't use much anymore, MM832PS-SIC, 8'3''(2.51m), PE #6-#8 line, 200g Spin, Max drag 11kg. 2 piece (blank comes out of the fore grip)

It's a pretty heavy duty casting rod. Have done over 20-30kg tuna no worries.
