New combo advice (WPB/king/general purpose bait)
Ok, so I cant make up my mind so looking for some assistance from you guys.
Am looking for a Westernport bait fishing / king fish jigging, stickbaits and plastics / general purpose rod and reel.
For the reel ive decided to use a daiwa BG 4000/4500 but am not sure what rod to get.
Looking for something I can use 8-10oz sinkers as well as 150gm jigs and lures, somewhere in the rating of PE 2-3
Or will that be undergunned?
I have a combo lined up, penn ocean assassin pe 2-5 6"2 with daiwa BG4500/4000 but not sure if overkill or wether I need lighter gear(rod)
I prefer to use lighter outfits for a bit of fun factor, but not so sure with kings as ive never caught one. im sure wpb bycatch will also give me a run for my money
This will be an extremely limited use combo for me, hence why im looking for all in one and keeping costs to a minimum.(ideally $400 for everything rod/reel/braid)
Cheers

Re: New combo advice (WPB/king/general purpose bait)
I use a Daiwa 64 Combi Jerk for pretty much what you've listed there. Nice and light, can cast well enough, Jig to 200gs and goes really nice with a 4500 reel.
That Penn rod you mentioned would be pretty much perfect except for throwing stickbaits good distances. It is a bit overkill for the small kings we get down here but you'll be thankful if you ever hook a decent one..
Cheers, Anth

thats a nice rod, im guessing its a saltiga, if so it will blow the budget for me lol
yeah im not sure about the size of the kings we get here hence why im not sure what rod to choose, if i had some experience with them then it would make it easier to pick something.

My brother has the jig saltist which is a touch shorter than the 64cj. Really nice rod.
The average king you would get around the heads and WP would be like.. Imagine the biggest salmon you'll ever catch.. Not unstoppable by any means but a ripper fight.
