ok can you educate me on there reel size's please ..... 2004 and 2508 .

I have only shimano in the small size's so need some help as I am looking at a solII but don't

want to get the wrong one and I want something the same size as my stradic 2500 .

thanks . so it's all in the spool design not the gear box now I know what I'm looking at but then again

they have 6 reels in the $200 to $300 price range I will have a headache .

another stradic FK is starting to look good even thou I don't like them .

I run a mix of reels

a 2004 luvias is probably the "nicest" best value reel out there if you buy jdm. Very smooth and just lovely to use. I run mine with straight through fc for small hardbody bream fishing.

I also have a caldia 2506 which I tend to use around heavier urban structure or through winter. More agricultural than the luvias and too be honest I tend to reach for my 2500 sustain over the caldia most times.

The 2004 is a little smaller than a shimano 2500 and the 2506 a little bigger. 250x are probably closer to a 3000.

I also run 1000, 2500 and 3000 sustains.... Bit of a ramble but I'll always have a 2004 luvias .... Just too nice a reel to use for light sport fishing ... Balances very nicely with most 1-3kg sticks.

The caldia will retire eventually and I'll stay with my sustains.

I'm not much into bling though - I just like my gear to be functional which is why the majority of reels are sustains which, for me, are just dependable workhorses. But still I can't lie the luvias does make me smile every time I use it

what are you intending to use it for? Might give a better indication on which way to go .... Light line finesse lure fishing for small species like bream (I'm waiting dougie) can't go past the luvias 2004 I reckon (buy from somewhere like digitaka). Downsides are dealing with magseal and servicing (I decided in advance I'll go to an independent servicer as I'm not sure what the deal with daiwa Aus. And jdm reel servicing is)

Very rough description. The first 2 digits give you an idea of body size. The last 2 digits give you an idea of how much line they can store. Eg a 2004 can store 100 yards of 4lb. A 2506 can store 100 yards of 6lb. A 2510 100 yards of 10lb.

Personally as I've started fishing a little heavier these days chasing larger fish I don't think you can go past a 2510 and a 2-5kg 7'er as your "everyday" rod. I'll be buying a Steez thunderstorm the next opportunity I get. Light as a feather yet shiteloads of backbone.
