Shimano Stradic FK

Post by Sinsemilla » Tue Oct 25, 2016 6:07 pm

So I've been looking at the new Stradic FK in the 1000 size.. seems like a pretty good little reel.

I have also been looking at the brand new Daiwa luvias but cant bring myself to spending 350 odd on a small reel for bream and trout.. maybe in the future ill get one. I've always wanted one.

I already have a Daiwa Heartland in the 2000 size which is an awesome little reel that i use for trout but just wanted something different. I've always been a Daiwa man but was thinking of trying something else.

Anyone got a stradic FK? how do they go?

Cheers, Anth

Those black hole rods are nice as for the price they are. what do you think of it?

There is heaps of good reviews on the net but i want to hear from someone who has actually used it a few times, not just unboxed it and given the handle a spin.
I especially want to know how the line lay is with 10lb braid and under.
It looks like a pretty nice reel for 230 odd.

Absolute ripper of rod I definitely recommend it, casts far even with those tiny little celtas handles are great and it is super light. Cheers ps I have had a couple of trout rods and I have had this rod for about a year and it looks brand new

ns make mad rods. i was going to get a specialist trout when i was looking for a 6ft creek rod but ended up finding a presso real cheap. The presso is an awesome little rod too

Hey Anth, I have the FK in 2500. It's brilliant and by far my best reel. I give it a real smashing on the squid (very violent action and lots of casting the way I do it, totally destroyed a sienna after 4 months) and once used it to haul in about 20 big salmon (50-60cm) in a row casting slugs into a school. It's super smooth, solid and the drag is great. I will probably upgrade the drag to carbon soon as a mate did his and has no trouble handling good size snapper on it. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Have you seen the new FK is also out in CI4? I have a quick play with on in the shop and it's really nice but more dollars.

I have 2 fk stradics in 4000 size on my snapper rods they are nice light with good drag I also have 2 sustains in 4000 size definitely feel better I also have a 2500 sustain I use for squid and soft plastics you could cast all day with it. I had a 2500 stradic ci4 which was noisey but light great drag etc but a big squid liked it more than me

Luvias for the win, I have two (2004 & 2500) and a 2000 size Exist, all are a cut above the Shimano. I have a Stradic but the Luvias tops it for feel and ergonomics.
