Re: DAIWA BG 8000
some nice sunset pics there mate.
with the braid issue, have you looked at running a nice long leader with an FG knot insted of a barid to mono join using a swivel

last night i removed the braid from one reel and replaced it with 30lb

Re: DAIWA BG 8000
Well just got home from another successful sorty i got 2 and this time i had one reel with monno
and after to nights effort i will be removing the braid from the other reel .
so far the reels are going great , the drag i very good and so is the line roller since it doesn't have
any bearings and after they have had a few trips it seems as though they are smoother now and that
is saying something as they are out of the box any way some pics .

Re: DAIWA BG 8000
well done mate.
yes the gears need some time to bed in, which make them a bit more smoother with a bit of use.

Re: DAIWA BG 8000
well some bad news last night i went over the beach and it was very quiet
i don't think i saw what i could positively say was a bite all the time i was
there.
so i figured i would pack up and go home and wait for the right time so i
wind one rod in and while i was getting it ready i hear this loud crack so
i turn around and what i seen didn't realy hit strait away but the second
rod was not there but the bottom half of the ally rod holder was so
off i go expecting never to see it again and there it is laying in the wash.
so i gave it a strip down and i must say i was impressed in the fact that
there was no sand in the reel but there was water salt water and these
are sealed bearings so time will tell how this turns out .

Re: DAIWA BG 8000
You might be able to get the bearing seals out. They are usually held in by a circular spring in the outer race. A safety pin will get them out
