Found this rod amongst the pile and thought i might use it but cant see a scale on it to see what size fish it could catch.

702 kgw couldn't be more than 2-4kg I could be wrong but if it has kgw in stead of something like 702ulfs I imagine it's a 7 ft glass whiting rod..

On second inspection I now see ultra light tip.. This would be a 1-2 kg rod..
If I'm not fishing, I'd rather be fishing!

Pop a pilchard on it and chuck it in and see what happens. If you get a snapper on the end then you'll know soon enough if it's up to the task. I reckon I fish heavy gear but mostly it's to battle the heavy sinker in WP more than the big fish! Otherwise, I have no idea but don't see many overhead whiting setups.

What reel is that? looks like an abu 5k-6k? the rod looks about 5kgs to me. glass rods can usually take a beating and can handle much more than stated on the rod. Nothing north of the bay will outdo a rod like that. It will just take you a bit longer to muscle the fish in
