I'm using Shimano XTA Long Cast spooled with 20lb Finns braid. Perfect for me to use at surf, rocks or piers targeting reasonable fish. Matched to old and cheap 13 foot Jarvis walker white tail rod. I'm very happy with this reel and also the rod.
