Storing Fishing Rods/Reels in a Garden Shed
What are your thoughts on storing fishing rod/reels outside in a small garden shed. Trying to free up space in my garage.
I'm thinking of buyinmg a small garden shed from somewhere and setting it up outside, would the rods, reels, fishing line and hooks deteriorate.
Would sealing the shed the best way possible help or not.

i used to keep all my gear under a big lean to type shed in the back yard. never had a problem with lines rods or reels. as long as you clean them after using and take care of them they should be fine.

If you have a plaster ceiling in your garage or timber truss, you can make some sort of brackets/ hooks and have them on your ceiling. Ive seen a pic of it somewhere. Will try and find it and post it. Cheers

I have been storing my rods and all my fishing gear in my shed (3.5mt x 2.5mt) for the last 8 years without any problems. Made up some timber racks with hooks on one wall, similar to a gun rack to hang the rods. During summer the shed does get hot inside but i haven't had any gear fail me yet. I too rinse all my gear with water before putting away. Hope this helps some.

My only tip would be not to make the shed too draught proof as you will need ventilation to make sure everything dries out properly, especially in the cooler months.

My "REEL" worry is heat in the shed and the issue with heat causing the fishing line to weaken. Sounds like from the experience of other fishos that it'll be fine.

Exactly what i was thinking , so you may have to get some draws to store the reels off the rods . that shelter the reels from the heat of a tin shed in summer , hope your rods dont melt away ?? :dontknow :lol:georged2 wrote:My "REEL" worry is heat in the shed and the issue with heat causing the fishing line to weaken.
