Just a quick tip that may save you a bit of grief.
I usually go through all my rods every winter to make sure I have no cracked or damaged guides. Tip rings are the most likely things to get damaged. Specially check for line grooves in the tip ring. They can be real line shredders. Your line will be guaranteed to part company just when you're hooked up to that fish of a lifetime.
Today I've just replaced two rod tip rings, both showing line grooving.

Re: Rod Maintenance
What guides are in the rod. Shouldn't be any grooves if the guides are made for braided lines

Geez mate, line grooves!? How many fish do you catch!!
It's a good idea to always go over your gear and give it a nice clean and check over. We spend too much on the stuff not to!

LOL. I wish!Sinsemilla wrote:Geez mate, line grooves!? How many fish do you catch!!
It's probably not a problem with good modern day guides but some of my favourite rods are quite a few years old. I wouldn't have a clue what guides were originally used but the tip rings were definitely grooved.
