Are these reels any good? Just looking at the price seems reasonable...some sale going on but no knowledge/experience on Abu Garcia equipment.

Hey mate, abu used to make really good gear, the old man swore by them, that was when they were still swedish made. Nowadays, as with most other manufacturers, their products are made in china. Saying that, I've had a little abu soron reel for a couple of years, and it's a great piece of kit.

MTS stands for muscle tip something I think. I had a mt3 combo for my first surf combo which would have been very similar. Did the job. Very entry level gear though.

Abu reel for $40 can go too wrong.
And if it breaks just take it back

Im sure it would be good for the money, I bought two cheap Abus approx 2 years ago, looked identical but in a 2500 size. One is still going strong, but doesnt get a great deal of use, the other one died after about 12 months. That being said, for the money I am sure its not too bad.
