Reel for shimano cranx 4-7kg

Post by reillypitts » Sat Apr 30, 2016 12:31 pm

Hi guys,
Thinking of getting a 6'5, 4-7kg shimano cranx rod for soft plastics for when i go up to Port Douglas but unsure on what reel would go with it well, im thinking a symetre 3000 or a sedona 3000 but not sure if I could go up to a 4000 size. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers.

I dont know about Port Douglas, but I would probably be leaning towards a 4000 sized reel for a 4-7kg rod.

Tackleworld, compleat angler and a few others had them at this price, not sure who still does but a quick google should find them pretty quickly. They are about to be superseded hence the low prices.

I use a 3k stradic for my 5-10lb combo and a 3k sustain on my 8-16lb rod no real need for a 4k on a 3-7kg rod unless you want the extra weight for balance.

The Sedona has a compact 3000 which is a compact version of the 4000 and has 8.5kg of drag. This sounds like the go and much cheaper than a stradic

I would probably go a 3k size reel for a 4-7 kg rod :)
