Light Rod and Reel Combo
Hey guys, first post here. I was apart of the old Fish Vic community and just saw that it's back up and running!
I am looking at purchasing a new rod a reel today, just wanted to get some suggestions. We mainly be using it for some squid fishing and bream. Only using it with lures also.
Was looking at getting either of these options but any suggestions would be great. Doesn't need to be Shimano Reels either. Just not too familiar with out brands
Rod - Both in 1-3kg option and one piece

Re: Light Rod and Reel Combo
My bream rig is a Shimano Starlo Classix ultra light spin (1-3kg) and a Shimano 2500FB reel. Cost me about $130, including braid. Its a great setup IMO, and ive since bought another 2 rods in different sizes.

Re: Light Rod and Reel Combo
I have the Stradic ci4+ and its a great reel to use. Super smooth drag. Im not hugely up to speed on the daiwas, but I am sure the equivalent price point daiwas are also great.
Edit: Might pay to also check out the majorcraft rods.

Re: Light Rod and Reel Combo
Bought a couple of these one piece combo's recently but fitted with the 3000 reel and 3 to 5kg rod I've found them to be great and good value for money you can't go wrong with Daiwa gear its just as good as Shimano in my opinion.

Re: Light Rod and Reel Combo
Daiwa megaforce are cheap n great light rods approx $50 I used it as a carp rod for a while n recently got promoted to squid n whiting n works great!
Veritas rod are also good but I think a little more expensive.
Sorry I can't see ur links I dunno why. If u want one for lures I'd suggest graphite.
Welcome n good luck with ya purchase!

Re: Light Rod and Reel Combo
Hey mate you would struggle to squid with it but I use a majorcraft skyroad t702m (2-6lb 7ft) for all my light lure fishing, it's an excellent rod that cast incredibly, extremely sensitive but enough guts to pull decent fish. Used to have an itchy twitchy and it just didn't compare. I currently run a 2500 ci4+ stradic on it but am looking to upgrade to a 2004 luvias or certate at some point in the future.
