I wasn't really commenting on the fishability, its more dropping them on the rocks that concerns me, reckon you would just be left with little bits.
Cast, catch and put it back

No they are a lot tougher when designed for that type of fishing running thicker walls and having different levels of graphite and resin ratios.

Have a look at the punishment that my T1000 went through last weekend when a cast went wrong with a shock leader snapping.

Chasing a rod casting 8oz plus, line 40lbish, for long casting rock ledges and ocean beaches.

Currently using a Nitro Surf Messiah, stunning rod but the 4oz cast weight is limiting my ability to stick heavy sinkers on non reefy bottom.

I'm leaning towards the Saltiga because it lets me use either a threadline or an overhead.

Will be matched with a Lethal 100 for the time being, which I have both a 15kg spool of mono and planning on spooling the other with a kilometre of 30lb Tasline elite braid.

Do shimano make a comparable product?

Gday Dougie,
I own a Saltiga Surf and I love it. I find it a very versatile rod.
I have caught 100kg plus sharks and with a change of reel/spool I have also caught KGW, pinkies and salmon on it.
I have used multiple reels on it, Stradic 8000, Ultegra 14000/10000, Spheros 14000, Saragosa 18000, 4500 Saltiga, Daiwa Procargo 4500 etc but have never fished it with an OH reel.

The AFAW rods are alot stiffer from my brief exposure to them. Maybe be better suited for a dedicated HD rod.
