Post by Tackleberry » Thu Feb 11, 2016 3:07 pm

Gday all after the neg reports in my Any love for the Shimano Symetre FL i did

some more research and have decided to get a stradic but which one the FK looks

the goods but there is also the FA .

now whats it going to be used for ...... it will be a 4000 size as the sustain 8000 is

a bit big on the 9' nano and be spooled with 10lb braid for tossing 60g slugs at sambos

of the beach .

cheers TAC

EDIT and now in the same price range the sustain 4000FG is also in the same price range :o_0:

The fa might be a little bit light for the nano to balance properly

I was just saying the other day my 2500 Stradic ci4+ was a little light to balance my squid set up properly. Fantastic reel, but the combo is a little tip heavy. If you're gonna use one of the lightweight reels I would throw it on a lightweight rod.

I would look at the FK or if you can find one at a good price an FJ might be the choice for value, personally I think the ci4 is too light to balance nicely on a 9 footer and not quite as 'tough' as the other alternatives.

What rod are you running for squid? I have a 3000 stradic ci4+ as my squid reel and the combo feels great in hand and there's only 1 gram between my 2500 and 3000 according to my scales at home.

Ci4 spool warps under strain since it is made out of infused plastic. Where you need to muscle a sambo out of the rip or backwash the fk is a more solid reel. Reckon it would be hard to find a previous model fj. Can get the fk for around 250.

Sephia AU. I know, i know, but i didnt research it before I bought it. It still seems to be a decent rods that has brought in a fair amount of good fish

yep i looked at them and then seen the 4.8:1 GR i would like 5.7:1 min now the StradicFK is 6.2:1

and the Saragosa 5000SW is 5.7:1 and the Sustain FG is 6.2:1 but i'm starting to think the Saragosa

5000 will be a tank .

to many choice's

the aero ci4+ comes in 4.8:1(4000) and 6.2:1 (4000xg). they also have a wider spool = more line retrieved per turn
