9ft Salmon Rod
Hi Guys,
I know there's plenty of similar topics, but none really answer my question. So here's another thread about 9ft spin rods...
My 902 Catana shattered mid cast on the weekend so looking for a new 9ft spin rod. The Catana was ok, but looking at something a bit lighter and higher quality. It will be used predominately in Vic and southern NSW for Salmon and Tailor etc off the beach. Don't really need it to cast anything heavier than 40g.
Budget around $200
Thoughts so far include a Shimano Impact Nano XT 4-8kg or a Daiwa Lateo 90M if I can get one, but haven't actually held either.
Cheers,
Drew

I forget which rod Carl uses, think it is the T Curve from memory, but he swears by his current one. I would just buy whatever he is currently using.

902 Tcurve coastal.
I replaced my catana with it about a year ago.
The most efficient way to throw a 50g the longest distance for the least effort. Powerful enough for any Victorian salmon, sensitive enough to squid with.
retail $199

At a 200 dollar budget I reckon the 902 Coastal is a top choice. I use a 902 Raider Travel and love it for the same reason Doug mentioned (plenty of guts to cast a 45g lure a mile with plenty of sensitivity). I believe the T Curve is the higher end version of the same rod.
I haven't really heard of people breaking their 902 T Curves unless doing something silly

What do you use adtrac to throw metal around when spinning?adtrac wrote:Thats if its not broken......Scraglor wrote:I forget which rod Carl uses, think it is the T Curve from memory, but he swears by his current one. I would just buy whatever he is currently using.

Re: 9ft Salmon Rod
Thanks guys. Will have to check out the tcurve, had originally thought it might be a bit heavy.
What reel are you running with the tcurve Dougie?
I'm currently using an Exage 4000FD which I use on other rods for snapper etc, but am also looking at getting a more specialized reel for the 902. Similar budget to the rod.
