Advice on a 6000-8000 sized reel for under $100...
Hi guys,
Looking for a larger-sized reel, mainly for rock/surf fishing, but will get use from the yak...
Ideally should be not too heavy, as it'll be used for some long (6+ hour) lure-chucking sessions.
Good long-casting ability would also be a plus...
I've considered the Penn Spinfisher SSM 650/750/850, but it looks to be a bit heavy and probably not
ideal for all-day casting.
There's a lot of options (too many?) out there and I've done a bit of looking around, but any advice or comments
would be much appreciated!
The clincher is that it can't cost more than $100...
Cheers,
Mike.

Hi Mike,
The Spinfisher is a very heavy reel but also very reliable.. Might be a little hard though (long hours on lures).
I recently had the same dilemma. I went with the New Shimano Sedona 5000. I believe it was about $100.00 @ BCF @ the time. I know it doesn't fit your 6000 - 8000 bracket but it's done the job for me and then some so i thought id share anyway.. I've found it to be a neat & tidy light reel with good line lay and cast.
The Christmas Catalogues are pretty much all out, worth a look
Cheerz,
Az.

I brought a Silstar PWR 60 a few weeks back from tackle world. Its a lot lighter than the Penn, Ive used it virtually every day and no problems, plus it was less than $60. Might suit.
Cast, catch and put it back

It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them
