Heavy Shore Spin

Post by DougieK » Sun Jul 19, 2015 2:54 pm

Hey guys,

I've been eyeballing a heavy shorespin for quite some time. The goal is to fill the space between my salmon gear and my game gear. I have been trying to spin with a 1303 Nitro Surf Messiah and it's just too long to cast all afternoon with.

The qualities i'm looking for are

50ish lb, but anywhere 35-60 is fine.

8'6''-10''

Casting range 50-150g

Two piece.

I can't seem to find something that is in that range and not $850 custom.

My go to option at the moment is the Salina III, however it's only 7'9 and i'd really like one a bit longer.

I also considered a DemonBlood 962H but at $360 ish it's probably out of my price range. Around $200 would be good.

Will be paired with either a Fin Nor Lethal 100 or a big Cabo 120 or possibly one of the new Van Staals if I have enough $ left over.

If the demon blood is what you want but costs to much then drop down in series to either the base Saltist above or the hyper. Both have a 962H

The saltist hyper looks perfect. I'll see if MF have one.

I think it's a bit heavy for a Barra rod. It's not rated in terms of KG but by PE rating for whatever reason. Rated at PE 6 and Daiwa recommend matching it to a 4000-5000 daiwa range which is probably kingfish territory(??).
