(to be fair they didnt get treated too kindly, and probably had a plastic bead wheeled in too fast) however I got them for $20 from a compleat anger sale, so figured you get what you pay for. I have since seen them at tackle shops for $79.95, I would be hella annoyed if I had of paid that much for them.

That being said, I havent had an issue with my catanas or sephias.
I have two Shimano Eclipse, the guides broke on both of them very quickly. You get what you pay for but never again for me for Shimano rods, blanks are OK but the guides are just rubbish.

I wash my rods after usage as well. Not sure why Fuji are the only company that make fishing rod guides properly but I have some pretty cheap Jarvis Walker rods that I have no idea what the guides are that they use but after years of use and abuse in the kayak the rods are fine.

Had a look at my two catana rods today and found that the guides have turned green/blue. Is there anyway to clean them or are they stuffed?
Thanks

Fuji guides are the only way to go, they use stainless steel on the guide frames.

Blanks are usually still good, strip them all off and wrap them all again. Costs and time make it a labour of love but worthwhile, I had a rod with crap guides, stripped them all off replaced with Fuji's still using 8 yrs later, one of the favourites and never washed the rod except for any rain. So look for that Fuji guides symbol when buying.
