Re: Are expensive rods worth the money?
Personally I don't buy rods too expensive, just give them a good clean after each use.
I tend to be a bit hard on my gear fishing these days 99% from my kayak in salt water.
My reels are not too fancy like Penn Slammers, Solstice, Abu Garcia (a few Shimano 2000's & 4000's for spinning).

Imo, if your bait fishing the difference is not worth it.if you're fishing lures buy the best you can afford!! Daiwa over shimano always! you get an extra $50 value on Daiwa. Again, that's my opinion

Re: Are expensive rods worth the money?
I have used cheap ebay rods and reels under $20 for last 10 years and caught some realy beautys of fish on them but since we got broken into my stuff got replaced with terez rods and stradic reels and wow there is no comparison.
Which i bought good stuff originally. So much lighter and add smoother and more sensative
There is no way i would go bach to using cheap stuff now

I always had cheap rods and reals and caught many fish, i give more attention on the lines, hooks lures etc ....that what the fish will bite, not the rod.
