What to use a 4-8kg rod for landbased
I just bought a shimano starlo classix 702 squidgy heavy spin rod online from Anaconda thinking that its the 2-5kg version, but turns out its 4-8kg. Stupid website doesn't give any details on line rating... I only really fish landbased and 4-8kg is a lot heavier than my usual rods. Do you guys reckon its still good for flicking plastics or general pier bait fishing?
It feels like a pretty decent rod. Deciding between trying it out or taking it back and swapping for something else.
It's still on sale by the way for $50 at Anaconda for anyone who wants to grab a cheap rod.

If it was me and I wasn't sure what to use it for I'd certainly take it back and get what I wanted in the first place...
Better to be sure than sorry later on..
cheers Adrian

dazz you can buy it off ebay for $50 + $10 shipping, delivered to your door. There's a code to get 5% off aussie sellers so it's a bit under $60dazz999 wrote:i was going to buy the same rod $50 cant go wrong like 4litres replyed i was just going to throw big soft plastics around but couldnt be bothered driving to narre warren to pick it up
Anyone know what I could try swapping them for? I bought 2 of them...didn't look like they had the lighter model available.

All depends on what you want it for.. what reel your using.. line.. weight of lures. Generaly a 2-4kg 7ft rod is ideal for landbased around Melbourne for soft plastics and light bait.
