It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

The coppers were cranky that the guy didn't know where he was. took hours to locate him maybe if you intend going out a fair distance they should carry safety equipment like flares

Isn't it by law that you should have standard safety gear on any watercraft?

i don't think you need flares, fire extinguishers etc. On unpowered craft i may be wrong though

You only need a life jacket in a yak unless you a going 2nm from the coast.

If you go further thats when you need other stuff like a spare paddle
2 orange smoke flares
2 red flares
A compass and an Epirb.

Might be wrong, But im sure thats the laws.

Obviously yaks may not have insurance but for boat owners with insurance - does it cover costs of rescue if need be?
cheers

I think under maritime law you dont charge for rescues but they may change the rules so they have to carry safety equipment
