Midnight Shark Mission:Success
Heya Team, Headed out into Eastern WP Friday night to test some new light gear on the Yaks and maybe snag a Gummie or 2 into the bargain as well. Fully expected to be swamped by Rays, Banjos and Ellies but I had an awesome night In the 3 hours I was out, I hooked 9 Gummies, Landed 7. Lost 2 snapping the leader by the boat, and 2 small Schoolies. No Ellies, No Rays! Double Hook-Ups, Twisted lines and assorted chaos adding to the Fun. None of them were huge, mostly 65-110cms
First one was in the 1st 10 minutes, So I knew I was in for a good night
However just to prove the Fishing Gods are fickle, My Kayak buddy was 60m away, Same rigs, Same bait and landed 2, the second one costing $140 when it tangled both rods and dived under his yak, Exploding his AbuGarcia Vantage graphite rod However he counts himself lucky not to be blind, as he copped a few splinters in his face. All fish were released, Fresh Salmon and Bananna Prawns (Thanks Cheater) accounting for them.

Graphite rods, Gummies and kayaks dont go together well -- I tell most to use a rod you can tie in a knot cause gummies try real hard to do so at timesLongshot wrote: one costing $140 when it tangled both rods and dived under his yak, Exploding his AbuGarcia Vantage graphite rod However he counts himself lucky not to be blind, as he copped a few splinters in his face. I took a mate out to my spot in his Boat, and I anchored 100m away. I caught consistently, He didn't.
I honestly think the noise of the boat, anchor, stomping about, whatever; really affects the fish in the Shallower water.
and Tomcat, my 2nd rod is an old 5'6 Ugly Stik Gold. Disposable and Unbreakable.
Tom (Yak Buddy) has'nt learned his lesson...went out and bought a $200+ Shimano Trevalas to replace the broken Abu.
Kids these days..
