Heading out Clifton Springs Saturday 6 Jan 24, ~8.30am (flexible)
Fishing light SE winds, run in / slack / run out tide.
Drifting 2-3m to a secret spot, fishing there still slack. Moving deeper on slack, then back in on run out.
Few kgw, flatties, pinkies around - squid has been slow.

Re: Heading out Kayaking - All welcome
Hey guys, heres my report from Philip Island today ,my 1st time out in weeks actually due to the poor weather lately and festive season gatherings, got there at 1st light , as you can tell by the photos it was a glorious sunrise , i was unloading the kayak looking at the horizon thinking how good is this !!!
I ended up with 5 squid, actually caught 3 of em on my sleeper rods with my $5 pryml size 4 fluro orange jig doing the damage. Everytime i used my egi rod id do a long cast then the sleeper would go off straight away lol. I did a long cast looked down at the sleeper jig and saw a squid as clear as day attack the sleeper and wrap its arms around the jig , i was thinking i was on but it let go and swam away....I decided to go for KGWs after seeing a few swim underneath me , 1 actually followed a squid that i caught .....i dont know why but i couldn't catch any KGW , bit annoying , i tried for a good1-2 hrs with 3 rods lol , not even a bite , except i caught a wrasse. I ended up catching my first banjo on the yak, hope that is a rare occurrence , also saw probably the biggest jelly fish ive ever seen. I decided to go a bit deeper in search of KGW when disaster struck...one of my rods went for a swim...i casted , put back in the holster without realising the holder was somehow loose and when i saw the holder pointing downwards i thought oh ****....the tide was strong by this point, even though i was anchored i was drifting and i couldn't get in position to try retrieve it....and also the wind picked up and i could barley see it....i unanchored to go look for it , and after about an hour i saw it again , but then i it disappeared on me again...so yeah spent a good 1.5 hrs i reckon looking for it , it was my new silstar rod with an old 2500 nasci , so i know its about $250 value there...I should have stayed anchored and waited for the tide to get dead low...im finding this lift assist thing on the back of my kayak is crap....the rivet has already come out now it doesn't even fit securely, that ***** me, it worked well for the first few times but now its stuffed, i will need to get creative to try fix it, so yeah bit of drama losing my rod, but happy to get a great sunset and a nice bag of squid !

Re: Heading out Kayaking - All welcome
Hey Everybody,
Haven’t been on here for a while.
Definitely my favourite spot on the kayak to date.
Haven’t been out since April 23, can’t believe it’s been that long so quickly.
New career, Extension/Renovation, Family been soaking up all my time and money
Just had my Compass seen to by SLH last week to sort out a few minor things.
And I just need to get out
Gonna give it a shot of being possible. Just need everything to align, catching a feed would be a bonus!
