Heading out Monday afternoon Clifton Springs, cheers!
How did you go mate?
Gave it a miss, wasn't worth risking it for a few fish seeing how hot it was.

Yeah fair call, the hot days need to be an early morning for me. I just got back from Bermagui, I'm keen to get back into squidding when you’re up for a fish

No good on the Covid Sebb, I hope it wasn’t too bad. With any luck the stars might align and I’ll head out for an early morning fish off Clifton springs for calamari on Saturday. Anyone is welcome to join, I’ll probably launch around 15 mins before first light

Quick report, the squid weren’t very aggressive today. The calm water and lack of clouds probably didn’t help. Often saw 2-3 following my jigs, getting close then backing off then repeat often. The initial bite window was first light to sunrise, picked them up on the white yamashita, then the second bite window around 9am the squid liked the NAEBA jigs. Filled my bag, and released another 4 or 5. I’ve never seen them so timid. Lots of the brown algae about at the moment too.

I was thinking to go there Monday. But I don't want to get caught in traffic otw back towards Melbourne. There'll be heaps of people coming back from the long weekend trip.

Glad to hear that you were able to get your bag of calamari and interesting to hear how they were behaving! Did you have to go far out for them?

I’ll be running a squid jig on a float with the aim of picking up a few while working plastics. Keen to see what happens!
