From what I've heard about these hobie are safe. My understanding is the patent ran out on the v1 drives which is why these can be released however there has been quite a few upgrades since then, the drive also doesn't seem to have the ability to adjust the stroke length and has a fixed seat. The other side to it is the actual kayak side, all reports I've seen are that the hull itself isn't as well made.

Good to see competition but I don't think it has anything on the hobies, yet

From what I have read there’s a few things missing that the hobies have but the hull build is ok strength wise.

Think the price reduction could be the game changer though.
