Agreed, that's why I only fish PPB as a last resort when the conditions are no good 13km offshore at Port Mac or Portlandbaitworms wrote:Kayaks are not designed for Port Phillip Bay.Tim399 wrote:not sure what you mean stupid/life threatening action?baitworms wrote:All this seems not worth reporting a kayak in Port Phillip bay.
just make sure you have life insurance to support your family. which might not cover being stupid/life threatening action.

OK body recovery is planned for but at what cost to your family.
Most people fishing on PPB have a 2.4 beam 5metre boat that can cop a wave,
Not sink on the first I metre wave.
Just think a wave 500 mm over the top that flattens you all extra's within the kayak sink.
And the water gets very cold very quick and you think, somebodies coming for you for being a nut.
8 mins at best your dead.
Why do you rely on other people for your crazy actions.
COOL ya jets and have a beer ffs. I just read it somewhere, that this is a forum about fishing, not personal preference. Maybe you should think a little more about that.

Re: Just bought a kayak.
Baitworms in respect to your comments and voluntary career PPB on it's day is safe for a kayak same as western port or even offshore.baitworms wrote:Oh dear another self denial.Tim399 wrote:no worries mate i wont bother arguing with someone that clearly has absolutely no idea what they are talking about.

It comes down to understanding the area, weather conditions and limits of the craft. If I owned a kayak I would happily paddle out for a fish on PPB conditions permitting.

Re: Just bought a kayak.
If a 5m boat had a 2.4m beam I'd be getting the highest possible extras cover on the private health insurance because by god you'd need every last cent spent on your back in such a boat!baitworms wrote:OK body recovery is planned for but at what cost to your family.Tim399 wrote:you dont know what you are talking about.
and i do have an epirb - in case something does not go to plan. just as the many boaties on PPB do.
