Kayak and gummy shark

Post by Toady king » Sun Jun 04, 2017 3:02 pm

Hello all,
I've got myself a kayak that I've used a bit and im really keen on cstching gummy shark. My only problem in I don't have a fish finder on it yet. So im just wondering if there are any spots around that I can get to without a fish finder? Im not asking for your secrets spots or anything like that, just some where I have a chance of catching one.
Thanks

Lang Lang or Grantville over flood tide fish over flats, doesn't have to be deep, no structure to speak of if you aren't heading out to channels. Use a anchor on rope if you like to test depth. anchor up in 2-3m say 500m out. Just make sure you are back in before tide drops below about 1.1m, or you will have a long wait.

Tide flow is not to fast on flats, especially at Grantville.

Yep what he said.
I got a couple nice Gummy' s yest morn that side.
Make sure you got lights too if you're in the dark.
The anchor if only in 2m deep there only needs to be a 1.5kg grapnel with a short piece of 10mm gal chain. Oh & make it with safety release in case you snag it on weeds or rocks, but I doubt you'll have those probs in those 2 areas. Also try head out with other yakkers to get more experience & for safety. You need 1m of water to get back at both LL & Gville.
