Good luck to you and all the others making the trip. I wish I could have joined in but real life keeps getting in the way.

Sounds like you already have a bit of work to do catching up with Shane's mackerel though...

Well SWR was quite the trip again this year with a huge amount of different species caught - eight kayakers attended year trip 7 from Vic - Shane , Crazychenski . Fishndive . Yakhappy . Kieran . Loboloco , Myself ( cheater ) and 1 from SA - Minny

Long Tail and Yellow Fin Tuna - Cobia - Spotted Macks - Wahoo - Snapper - Mullaway - Bonito - Mac tuna - Yellow Fin Bream - Finger Mark Perch and some others that I still haven't to identified

this years trip was later that last being April instead of Jan , we did rent the same house in South West Rock a perfect location close to everything
most of us traveled up on Saturday the 2/4/16 myself and Yakhappy ( dave ) left around Midnight in the real early hours to meet up with Fishndive , Chenski and Keiran at Glenrowan to travel up together arriving a bit after 5 pm

Lobo had arrived earlier in the day around 9 am and slide out for a fish his first fish was hooked and then sharked but a second 95 cm Spotty Mac was landed

Image

after we arrived and settled in it was rig up for a Sunday fish

So 4.30 am Sunday we were up with a quick breakfast and off the the ramp . some head out front to look for bait ( this place is a live bait fishery so collecting live bait is a must ) myself and others headed out into Trail Bay bait grounds , there was plenty of bait around and we were soon trolling baits - water temps were 25 + deg and fairly clean , a bit off shore wind made it bumpy once away from the jail headland
I found getting bait easier than finding anything to take it
Shane picked up a nice Wahoo @ 135 cm and Yakhappy a nice Spotty Mac and others got bitten off running to lighter wire on there rigs ( 45 lb wire was upgraded for the next day ) our guess the Wahoo just bite this light wire off
Myself I used 86 lb wire but only bite took my Slimmy just behind the hook

Image

back at the house every one was rerigging with heavier wire and stinger hooks , keen as mustard to get back at them the next day

Monday 4 am ( god damm it that's early to back up the day before ) Yakhappy got this pic of Shane with the sun rise heading out

Image

bait was harder to come by while we were looking for it Lobo got bait before us and out wider at the peak picked up 4 small Yellow Fin Tuna

Image

with bait being hard to find Eoin ( fishndive ) had slid into trail bays bait ground to jig up some bait with a sabiki jig and had left a live bait swimming around and picked up a nice spotty while collecting bait

Image

and a pic of Lobo also playing that spotty game

Image

I'll add some more later after I pull some pics off my camera
My kayak PBs
Gummy shark 128 Cm - Elephant fish 85 Cm - Snapper 91 Cm - KG Whiting 49 Cm - Flathead 55 Cm - Garfish 47 Cm - Silver Trevally 40 Cm - Long Tail Tuna 86 Cm - snook 64 Cm - Couta 71 Cm - Sth Calamari 44 Cm hood - Cobia 117 cm

Water looks beautiful for yakking on, quite a feat to be able to plan such a trip to coincide with the calm water/light winds.
