Whiting comp 5th and 6th of the month
Both Mal ( Winchbitch )and myself fished both Sat and Sunday out from Balnarring and slide down outside Mericks on Westernport with the kayaks - we fished in a winter Whiting comp run over at Mr Fishos
we both fished mainly in 7 - 8 meters of water
Sat was windy at times and I have not dout that the forcast of 20 kt winds was on the money and of cause it was bumpy and a very wet ride
but fish were caught Mal with a 46 cm and myself with a 41 cm whiting put us on the board
We hadn't fished the area a lot and seamed to catch the bottom more than fish but both came away happy that at least we had a fish to enter
Sunday the wind was up and down a bit ,nowhere near as bad as the day before .It was raining around sunrise when we launched but that backed off and the sun even came out
Mal upgraded his fish by pulling 3 crackers a 44 , 47 and a 49 cm whiting I myself couldn't buy one out there
just topping up with a feed of Leather Jackets
the tide had just turned around midday and the wind droped but had to pull the pin to head to the weigh in
I think with the water just starting to flow they may have come back on , no matter
Here I am parked in the Leather Jacket section while up in front is Mal in the Whiting section - ya just have hate that !
I also ran a 15 kg set up with a big bate but no critters came to play
and this is Mal sitting in the Whiting section of WP
Must say the camera smooths the water out nicely it was a little bumper than the pics show
Back at the weigh in and chatting around the BBQ it seams that many of the boating guys found it a bit rough
At mericks we had a swell coming down from Bass Straight and a side chop from at times 20 kt SW wind
Not a lot of fish were weighed in , Mal my offsider picked up the win with a 49 cm fish and I got a 3rd place with my 41 cm fish
all in all a good result from a less than perfect W/E on the water

Top stuff Cheater, I was on a beach at port phil and kayaking would have been some work in those conditions.
