I got it into my head that with todays high tide just after dark that it would be a good idea to try for a Jewie.
Part one of the plan was to catch a few small mullet at Tooradin for live bait. That part of the plan went off without a hitch.
From there it was off to a spot further down in Western Port to try and tempt a silver ghost.
Right on cue, just minutes before high tide I had a couple of tremors on the rod tip before line started peeling off the reel.
I engaged the reel and came up solid.
Ten minutes later I was able to see my fish. It was Eddie The Eagle trying his best to impersonate a Jewie.
At least I tried.
The wind was bitter cold so after the letdown I pulled up stumps and headed home, heater turned up as high as it would go. I was still cold when I got home.
It's been almost four years since my last Jewie. They're elusive buggers!

Hahaha "Eddie The Eagle". Only if i had a dollar for every time i thought an Eagley was a Red or Jewie for the first brief moment. These days i just call Eagle Ray on everything and act surprised when i see red or silver..

Bloody cold here, could only imagine what it's like down there. Good on you for having a go, cheers davo.
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

The same has happened to me on a number of occasion's, rays and sharks, you just never know until you see some colour, you got to be in it to win it
