Cold, windy and ... mulloway!
Re: Cold, windy and ... mulloway!
After all the talk of live baiting, I gave it another shot last night. One of my usual rods has lost the top runner, so I took my luderick rod. In some ways, that wasn't wise, because after standing around in the wind for a few hours, of course it was the one that got hit. The line starting zinging, but this time I managed to load up early and somehow keep the fish away from structure - had it been any bigger I would have been in trouble. Anyway, no complaints at 73 cm / 4kg it was definitely a welcome silver sight on top of the dark water. After a quick photo, it was back in the water to swim away.
(my apologies for the dodgy solo photo).

Good work bilby, nice fish, :a_goodjob: cheers davo
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

Hopefully, abzz. The odds are against me on a big one, though - speaking of which, I'm thinking about a new rod - possibly a Shimano Rev. Coastal 1002 (10ft version)

What do others think - 10ft or the longer 1202? Ideally, I want to be able to keep my gear out of people's way in the areas I fish, of the 10ft has appeal for that reason, but I also want to be able to keep the fish away from trouble, too.

There will definitely be bigger ones if the smaller ones are there.bilby wrote:Hopefully, abzz. The odds are against me on a big one, though - speaking of which, I'm thinking about a new rod - possibly a Shimano Rev. Coastal 1002 (10ft version)

That rod would do the job very well I reckon. I use a 12ft, but that's only because I don't have any other rod atm.
