Nice one...i think ive got a 12ft rod you can borrow to see if it suits..

Thanks for the replies - I'll go and have a look in store somewhere first. I'm thinking the 10ft only because I need to get into some tighter spots sometimes (i.e. bikes, pedestrians on walking tracks, etc) and the length can get in the way.

Gave it another go last night - had 2 runs, for zero hookups. After the second one, I had that sinking feeling ... the window had closed. Sure enough, another 2 hours on and no bites. The odyssey continues ...

Yes - you have a point. I try never to take anything for granted in Mulloway fishing (particularly when I think back on the countless hours this year alone without a touch!). It was damned frustrating, though - seeing the bait runner screaming, picking up the rod to set the hook and then ... nothing.
