Waited 30+ years for my first mulloway! What a night!!!
I caught my first mulloway tonight on a soft plastic with really light gear.
I cannot believe my cheap Kmart gear landed this fish. I used my small 6 year old trusty shimano FX2000FA reel coupled with my 6 year old 1.80 m jarvis walker vector spinning rod for small fish.
I have only used soft plastics 4 previous times without a touch until tonight
It was hilarious trying to lift it up the pier without a gaff or landing net. The rod sanpped trying to lift the fish up.
Thanks to the kind fisherman on the pier with the measuring tape who measured my catch. A definite keeper Heavy too
Waited 30+ years for this!
What a night!!!
Happy fishing everyone

Well done, Barbarian! That must have been an unbelievable experience after waiting so long. What length was your fish?

Jarvis walker is the good Kmart gear that they barely stock anymore! Now it's all generic sports fisher crap that fails every time. I'd be surprised if they ever got anything. Good work on the mull!

Thanks heaps everyone for all your compliments!!!
My mulloway was 65 cm. For its size, I think it is called a school mulloway. It definitely is not a monster like adtrac's mulloway recently or abzz's mulloways Anyway, it is huge for me considering that I only ever typically catch flathead, bream, pinkies, trevally, etc landbased The biggest fish other than this that I have caught is my 5.040 kg 74 cm landbased snapper a few years ago.
By the way, the mulloway tastes great!!!!!
