Doughnuts on the jewies again!!

Post by nickb123 » Mon Nov 17, 2014 1:39 pm

Well i can honestly say i've done around 25-30 trips for mulloway without ever catching one!! i have tried so many different spots along the yarra, tried so many different baits live mullet, dead mullet, live salmon, dead salmon, fresh squid heads, chicken, pilchards the list goes on! fished incoming tide, outgoing tide, high tide, low tide, full moons, no moons, wind, rain, summer, winter, I'm just about ready to give up on these buggers they are driving me insane  Anyone got any tips without giving too much information away?
Cheers Nick

Just keep at it Nick, you seem to be doing all the right things. My best tip would be find a spot (preferably with an abundance of bait) and keep fishing it until you get one, try not to move around much.

Tried that too ss i was actually fishing for mullet at this spot when something big (guessing a jewie) grabbed the mullet as i was winding it in, had no chance on a 1000 stradic and 6lb line lol. i have fished this spot countless times for nothing though hence why i have been moving around a bit

Good Luck with spear fishing in the murky yarra :)

Nickb123 ... my hats off to you for the keeping coming back after so much donuts!! ... Just have to keep at it bro ... at least you have your line in the water, that's half the effort now just have to finger cross that the elusive one is nearby, hungry and love your bait

Please don't forget to let us know when you finally reeled in your first jewie :)

I know the pain Nick, they do your head in. Just keep presenting live/ fresh baits and it will happen. I now always have a big rod out when catching bait fish as they don't seem to understand when it's just a dedicated bait gathering session- advice your probably gonna hate.
