If you get a chance, definately go throw a bait trap in Hazelwood(just don't tell everyone, as people get shitty with "translocating" fish).

I've got red devils, firemouth, convics and also blue acara from there and that was only 30mins worth with the kids one day.

So you're allowed to catch and take from there. I presume they're suited for tropical waters, as the pondage is heated. Those fish aren't native to Aus are they? What temps would that pondage be at? What was the name of the cichlid you caught Beno? Wicked colors, same with the red devil.

I wonder if you put a barra in there how it would go? O_-

Holy hell. Just googled that blue acara. AMAZING colors. I don't think i've seen one in the aquariums I looked at today. What would something like that sell for?

Legally, you are allowed to catch and destroy. wacko

Supposedly, there has already been Barra released in there, however, no one has ever caught one to prove it.

The temp in winter is roughly 22-24 in winter and high as 26-28 in summer.

It would be great to have a barra stocked fishery in victoria, I heard paul worsteling was having something to do with this.... It seems to only still be a thought and people have even been talking about shutting the powerstation down. My guess it there is a chance but not for another decade at least.

It is totally legal to take tropical fish from there many people do it, i don't see any laws either. They can't survive out of that water body anyway, too cold.

The blue ones were Pseudotropheus elongatus and the dull ones with a tinge of red on the belly are also red devils and not in fact firemouths, they are just in there natural colors like dull colored goldfish.

That'd be interesting if it was still alive.

Being waste water from the power station, how would you go about putting fish in your tank? Wouldn't they be slightly different and couldn't it affect the fish in your tank? Surely you'd have to quarantine it for some weeks if not months.

AS for catching them hook in mouth style, how long does it take for their lip to grow back to normal and wouldn't that present a problem for feeding?

I wonder if you could catch a 3 eyed fish :P

Quarantine them for a couple of weeks. I have noticed that some of the african cichlids that hang around the rocks have cloudy eyes. I would expect this due to the lack of water agitation close to shore. Usually clears up though in a week or two.

Takes about a week to heal, no problems if water conditions are right.

A three eyed fish, maybe if it was a nuclear powerplant :whoh: :roflmao:
