After over a decade with Telstra, I recently pulled the pin and changed to Optus. I was so frustrated with Telstra's "customer service" whilst trying to upgrade from cable to NBN that I gave up and went with Optus.
No idea why, but our wifi is now better (presume better modem/router?), the speed feels the same and most importantly if you need to speak to their help line they are prompt and knowledgeable (unlike Telstra).

The speeds are questionable already on the cable or perhaps it's the shitty router they supplied. Always dropped signals . Hopefully the nbn is a bit better.
Agree on shitty router dropping connection.
I used my old model netgear and the drops got fixed. I plan to use the supplied router as sinker this snapper season.
On the Chromecast, it works very well for me. No issues with casting to tv.
I tossed my karaoke unit now and just use youtube karaoke instead when i feel like disturbing the neighbors and the wildlife.
does the chromecast come with netflix and such apps?
i think my old router is long gone.
I bought my chrome cast awhile ago now Steve but paid separately for the chrome cast device and a monthly fee for Netflix.
yep was just asking if it has the netflix, stan and such apps.. as i dont have a smart tv yet.
You have to run those apps on your phone or tablet. Chromecast allows you to watch videos running apps that support casting from your device on your tv. Netflix, YouTube are prime examples. I dont use Stan.
Shimano Bait caster works. Daiwa sucks. Lol

Check out Aussie broadband. Reasonable prices and their customer support comes from native English speaking, local folks in morewell. The person that answers the phone is usually capable of fixing any issues without giving you the run around. Speeds seem fine and you don’t have to have a home phone (save $10/month). You can provide your own router too if you prefer. After dealing with Telstra’s crap for years, dealing with these guys was a breath of fresh air.

Not a recommendation but I just received this in an email and thought I would share. It might be suitable for someone that only needs basic internet.

The 40mbps plan is still on par with the other between that 60 and 70 dollar mark.

what plan did you go with, and did they charge you any fees to startup etc.
