What bad luck

Post by smile0784 » Sun Feb 03, 2019 4:48 pm

Got a phone call from mum at 7am this morning with bad news for the 1.2milion dollar house.

The house she bought and I spend 2 days moving her into a week ago putting most furniture in place and filling walk in robes with stuff and then
a water pipe burst in the laundry at 4am.
Flooding the house.
So the almost new carpet in 3 bedroom, 2 walk in robes and theatre room was getting pulled up by time we got there at 9am, the lyno in hall, foyer, walk in pantry, Kitchen, lounge need replacing and the tiles in the laundry have lifted and all the flooring pannels under that, the last feet of all the walls have swollen and all the skirting and lining trimes have swallow.

So spent another day up there.moving stuff.
Ment to be a rest day lol

More fun and games when the floor has to come me up in few days

Yep thank God she had insurance.

Do anyone know if they help put furniture back?

Similar thing happened to my brother in law a few years back. Can't remember exactly who his insurance was but I think it was GIO or RACV and they came out straight away. They organized a removalist who came with a 40ft container and they packed everything up and put them in a fully furnished house for about 6 weeks while they ripped up all the carpets and tiles as well as the joinery and painted the inside again. Then they dropped everything off and put it all back in place.

It's a pain in the rear but there is nothing you can do. Just make sure if you have mdf arcs and skirting that they replace them, same with all cabinets the chipboard swells and will never be the same.

Good luck with everything.
