No it was a reference to his social awareness. The work woke apparently referred to ones social or racial awarareness Haritier being a former Melbourne player and Collingwood premiership player always appeared to be at the forefront of these issues.

Considering I had never heard of the phase woke in this context until this arvo then its relation to AFL it was hard to find a relation to players and the term. A few over looked would be indigenous players such as Adam Goodes way more woke than many.
