Re: For or against?
I'm for this, because they really are a waste, albeit useful. Using a paper bag or one of the reusable bags would be better, in the long run. But I cant really see an alternative to rubbish bags
Re: For or against?
As an aside, there is a supermarket in Amsterdam that has announced yesterday that all plastic has been replaced with some other material which looks like plastic but degraded in 12 weeks when composted.

Don't know if it will make much of a difference...it's a global issue & the planet is already f&*ked. Banning plastics isn't the answer, we need to put money into recycling technology like Sweden.

Re: For or against?
Sweden encourages recycling by paying people to do so. I lived there in the early 90's for a while as a kid and made awesome pocket money by recycling cans and glass bottles; literally every supermarket had these machines, which would issue you an invoice that you would encash at the register.
Upside was that the swedes love their grog, and you could almost make a weekly wage cleaning up the parks, roadside on Sundays; Vaxjo was the place; Linnaeus university grounds were the cash cow; lakes were abundant; zander and pike were the staple...i could go on... Amazing place, Sweden is; if they only had the climate of Byron Bay, I'd move there in a flash.

Re: For or against?
I think a big part of the difference is their politicians don’t let ideology get in the way of decent policy so **** actually gets done.
