Bought a 2011 t31 xtrail tl for the wife. Awesome car. Tows well even though the diesel auto is only rated to 1300kg. Towed my 1ton boat with ease. Very comfortable and highly recommended.
I’ve got the 2010 r51 pathfinder ti and it’s an awesome car but probably too big for what you are looking at.

Can attest it ain't 50/50 power delivery. Rear wheels smoking it up a rocky fire track for 100m in 2nd at about 5kmh followed by left front only for about 15m. A pootrol behind had zero such issues even in 2wd with ht tyres.Ekaz3556 wrote:Purple the subarus are definitely 100% AWD, but I still believe if the front starts to slip the power shifts and up to 90% can be delivered to the wheels slipping, there is no way of locking the ratios as is done in a 4wd. Would definitely be worth checking it out as it may impact what you want to do. Having said that I have a Subaru and love, best car we have ever owner and feels super safe in the wet.

Yep that is the way I thought it worked, power goes to wheels of least resistance. AWD is definitely not as effective off road as 4wd. It will all get down to what exactly you want to do with your your new purchase

i have a CVT Liberty and dont intend on taking it offroad, just need it to be able to pull the boat out of the ramp if its slippery, so far its done it fine.(lightweight boat anyway)

It is a shame you cant lock the center diff on a subaru.
If you could lock the center diff they would be much better off road. (Probably aftermarket options available.)
