I quite like snakes, just have a healthy respect for their defensive behaviour. Leave them alone and you'll be right. Sticks on the other hand, can go to hell

they just take them out into the bush somewhere

Thats crazy! I got a feeling there is going to be a lot of snakes around this summer.. I saw a brown and 2 red belly black snakes within a couple hours on the goulburn the other day.

Fishing at Echuca once I thought that is a big stick coming down with the current. Then the stick starts swimming against the current. All good lots of river bank won't come near me. Couldn't be more wrong, hundreds of metres of bank to come up on and the bloody thing decides about 5 meteres from me is the best spot. I watched it and after a cursory glance it disappeared into the bark and leaves and I could follow it's track through the movement of the bark and leaves. Time to leave after that. Spot was just behind the tourist centre which is usually pretty busy.

Came across this Tiger snake a few days ago while heading to the river in scrub.. get used to seeing them after a while, just have to be alert when trekking through the bush that's all, they usually move off pretty quick..
