Weight distribution hitch
Ok so thinks just arent working out for me.
I did a dry run and tried to hook everything upto the car and see how it all sits with the level riders on but then problems started.
The whole for the tow ball wouldnt fit so asked te neighbour to bore it out 2 or 3 mm so the tow ball fit.
Get that all done.
Hooked the boat up and suspension on car went down 3cm, not bad.
But when to put the brackets on the trailer and then realised the brackets dont fit the draw bar is 2cm wider then bracket allow.
So looks like ill sell the level riders.
i have the same as these
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/162590533854 ... 1436.l2649
So with that idea abandoned. I managed to put 2 ppl and the dog in the boot so about 270kg of weightand the suspension went down to total of 10cm.
So debate it spend $1400 to get heavy duty springs or shockers
or air shockers for about $300 plus install
or will these be strong enough to stabilise the back end?
and which one is better?

and i can install the WDH my self
any advice appreciated?

Re: Weight distribution hitch
the weight distribution hitch ( level ride) work great but you need the extra transverse beam due caravans are an a frame draw bar and boat trailers are a single beam draw bar

I dont get the first bit and main content of your message.
We just bored the level rider tow ball bracket that holds the level rider bars not the gooses neck that holds the tow ball and all the weight from the boat.

Re: Weight distribution hitch
Sounds like the suspension is worn out. If you went with air bags you will probably find you still need to replace at least the shocks.
I would upgrade the suspension and you will enjoy the better drive every time you get behind the wheel not just when towing.

Re: Weight distribution hitch
Sounds like you're in need of a suspension replacement if it sags with the extra few kgs onboard. Without good suspension I think it'll be difficult to get the trailer set up right for towing.
With the distribution hitches, here's a couple of things to consider.
The boat trailer adaptor for the HR kits.
I use one of these we modified for my boat trailer. We cut, welded & reinforced the trailer bracket. Has worked a treat for the last 7 years. I'll take a photo and post when I'm next with my boat.

Re: Weight distribution hitch
This is what i have atm.
Worked good on the old boat which had a single draw bar.
Just doesnt fit this draw bar.
It lifted the comadoor rear springs back up 5cm and pulled the front down.
