Bendigo hospital opens stage one

Stage one of Bendigo's new hospital complete .
When170 patients and the first of 3000 medical staff moved into the New $ 630 million Bendigo hospital this week,more than 10 years of hard work to create cornerstone infrastructure underpinning decades of growth for Bendigo was realised.

In the months ahead ,after ramping up to full service operations and the completing the 2nd phase construction , the hospital will become the pinnacle medical centre in Victoria.Once the helipad, is built in the next stage planning,the city is expected to become a centre of trauma treatment for cases where it is closer to fly to Bendigo than Melbourne.

Yes it's a magnificent building looking at the advertisers pictures.They are also going to utilise some of the old hospital with a 2 storey walkway over Arnold street.mybe used for short term accommadation for patient families.

Thats great news. A trauma center 45 min driving away from home sounds brilliant :).

Ripper that you got a helipad. Been after one for years in Ballarat but the locals in the area always make heaps of noise against it every time the discussion comes up. Think the chopper will upset the swans........

I could not believe that some people had to travel from Ballarat & Bendigo, to get cancer treatment at Peter Mac.

There has also been a large extension opened 6 mths ago at St John of Gods private hospital.So at the present time we are looking good.Some of our surgeons have built a day centre for operations only which helped relieve the pressure on the hospital theatre's.its been going for 5 or 6 years.

When Latrobe Uni heard of the new hospital was funded they have started courses to teach and train doctors at the Bendigo campus.Hopefully some of these doctors will stay and relieve the pressure on the current practitioners we have.

I drove past the hospital a few weekends back. It looks fantastic!
