I live in W'vale too, however being retired I hardly ever have to head towards the city. That rail crossing off Bulban road is very handy to exit W'vale at the moment to the freeway. But with 3 new estates under construction between that crossing & the freeway, it'll be one heck of a bottleneck eventually. There are plans for Armstrong Rd to run from Ballan Rd right through to the freeway somewhere near the tip creating a new entry/ exit for W'vale & Manor Lakes.
