Re: What you can see and catch Fishing.
Platypus, deer, Eagles, snakes, stingrays, seals, a child that couldn't swim well clinging to a peer and everyone else just walked past ignoring her, drunk people falling in, a rather large shark quite close up just recently at night (don't feel the urge to swim at night now), leeches, snow falling while fishing is cool, wild dogs, wallabies, wombats, tunnels cut through mountains by the people in the old gold rush era for the river, and some of the most beautiful scenery you can imagine. That's off the top of my head and people asked me why I like fishing even if I don't always catch fish.

Yes, I dropped all my gear and was going to get in but her brother had gone to get her dad so I ended up just leaning off and talking to her until he got there (2min). No one else even agnowleded her which is the scary bit, they just walked past.

Re: What you can see and catch Fishing.
Last Friday out the Eastern entrance we were surrounded by about 100 (literally) of these beautiful little guys, they played around in our bow wave and when they could see us up on the boat they would try and flick water up and splash us with their tail. Very entertaining for about 10 minutes but obviously not great for the fishing....

Re: What you can see and catch Fishing.
This morning I dropped into APL on the way home from work. I had an hour or so to kill and the eel rods in the car so I figured it was a good excuse to go for a carp upgrade.
Imagine my suprise when I was a 50-60cm barra swim up and inspect my float before swimming off again. I had Polaroids on and got a really good look at it. No doubt in my mind it was a Barra.

In Albert park ducky? Sure it wasn't an EP? Way to cold for a barra.. I wouldn't be suprised if there was a 50 cm EP
If I'm not fishing, I'd rather be fishing!

Yeah I don't doubt it was a Barra, I know of a few mates who reckon they've seen one before. Wouldn't of been an EP the ones that were stocked in there would be nowhere near that size yet
