Does anyone here drive a Falcon/Territory?

I've got a $6k budget and want to buy a Falcon BA/BF to use as a family car when going out on roadtrips, but also as a tow vehicle for my 1.7T boat when going to Portland/Bermi.

For a 2006 car with complete service history, is 200,000km a lot? What sort of mileage do you have on yours? Are they cheap engines/tran to replace?

I think you get a lot of car for your money with a falcon. I know the territory is the same engine but not much more about them. The inline 6 is a very good engine for longevity, that's why all the taxis are falcons. I believe they peaked with the AU (taxi driver told me) and regularly get 400,000 to 500,000km before an overhaul. The engines are cheap comparatively but the labour cost with any engine change is the killer. If the territory is solid axle in the back (I don't know but don't think it is) then it should make a good tow vehicle for the price. Otherwise keep your ball weight down or you will destroy rear tyres on a regular basis. the falcon wagon is solid axle in the rear and is a great tow vehicle and family car if you wanted to consider that.

My work ute is a 2013 falcon, the one before that 2008. they keep the vehicles for 5yrs or 150.000ks. So I personally haven't had one go to 200.000ks but the work ute tows a 1700kg trailer most days, does it easy and whoever buys that vehicle when we are done with it is still getting a good car, cheers davo

I have a 2007 falcon dual fuel about 130000 tows the boat easy and great on fuel only had it 12 months but can't fault it, just make sure u get one with the heavy duty tow bar or its only rated to tow 1600kg

Just watch out for the milkshake that can happen (check overflow for any traces of foam or oily substances)

Also around that year the BA's had coil pack issues.

i own/ed 6 fords from GT - BA's

My 04 BA has 380xxx odd and hasn't missed a beat, apart from replacing coilpacks a few times.

I've towed 1.9t trailers with it (probably not rated for that much) for work probably 2-3 days a week as well and towed it fine.

Almost every Territory that we get in as a trade in at work needs differential bushes replaced at least.

I think that goes for the falcon to -- I did the bearings through the diff a while ago
